Addicted to Hope #HopeDealer

For Christmas, we bought everyone on our team mugs that read “Hope Dealer”.  I brought mine home for my morning coffees (yes, coffees…the current state of life calls for at least two cups daily!).  Every day it reminds me of our why.

Our why – the reason TALK exists, has always been hope.  Hope for our kiddos and our families, hope for independence, hope for success, hope for milestones to celebrate, hope for changing the lives of every human we meet.

So we will stick with hope.

We are swimming upstream here in teletherapy land, rowing as hard as we can against a current that is aggressive and unpredictable.  There are barriers everywhere – families with little to no web access and support. Homes that are fighting to survive right now.  School sites saying that there will be no services. None.  Stopping special education – even our virtual schools.

But we will stick with hope.

And our team – our brilliant, amazing, remarkable team.  Sometimes…back in the normal, I would sit outside of their therapy rooms to absorb the happy sounds…the laughter, the singing, the silly, the cheers and praises.  It’s so quiet in our office right now. Or too loud in the home office I am trying to make work.

But we will stick with hope.

A funny thing happens when you are stubborn and optimistic.  Messages came from therapists and parents. Photos of happy sessions.  Teletherapy dress up days keeping kiddos engaged and excited.  Proving family assumptions about teletherapy totally wrong with a proactive approach and positivity. And families expressing gratitude for consistency and our refusal to let some silly pandemic get in the way of our therapy (no, the pandemic is not silly…this is sarcasm).

So we will stick with hope.

While it could be seen as naive…we are moving forward, uncertain of so many things, but it is woven into the fiber of what TALK is.  And we will continue to march forward, with our clients, their families, and our therapist team as the priority.  And it is so much better to move forward in hope.

We invite you, hope along with us.  Allow us to bring you hope.  Support our addition, please!
